Two men. One wants to kill the dragon. One wants to capture it. Both have secrets.
When men from the northern town of Brock come to Adencass, sharing tales of a dragon, Ian MacGree thinks it’s a ploy to get out of sending their share of support. His father, Chieftain Goth, sends Ian to discover the truth. Never does he think the stories of a dragon terrorizing the area would be true until he runs into Roark, who claims to be a dragon hunter. Ian’s attraction to Roark is almost instantaneous, but as the second son of the chieftain, romance has no place in his life, for his father plans to wed him to another to seal an alliance. But he’s not the only one with secrets. When he discovers Roark’s, will their secrets bring them together or drive them apart?
What can I say? I absolutely love dragons. This means I hunt down books with these very magical creatures for the main characters, no matter the genre. So when hunting through various works, again ~♥ Elle ♥~'s recommendation comes to the rescue.
Written by none other than Charlie Richards, it was quite difficult to stay uninterested after reading the blurb. It also is a huge help that it is set in my great grandmother's homeland. Quite a welcome combination I should say.
For a Dragon's Touch is a short and light read that can be read over a nice cup of tea. It is the tale of Ian MacGree who lives in a world when arranged marriages was the norm, when a chieftain father rules the house with an iron fist used unsparingly, and no amount of discussion or objection can sway the decision once made by said chieftain. Getting married to a harpy of a woman is not something anyone would be happy with, no matter the leanings.
Ian gets off to an adventure as instructed by the father and off he goes in search for a supposed dragon that was terrorizing a village. Prepared to meet a rumour and a bear, imagine his surprise when his companion claimed to be a dragon hunter. Imagine his jaw dropping when the best kept secret is outed and he finds himself in the middle of a dragon bonding.
However, Ian is a man of honor and off he goes the morning after. He does so with a heavy heart as he finally meets the man of his dreams and he is bound to marry a harpy. No, not the Greek kind, a human! Sorry about that! Of course Roark is heartbroken, but when he sees Ian's life in danger and from a female dragon to boot, he comes dragonning in to the rescue.
Ian is caught between the love of his life and a harpy. Of course, just like any romance novels, we need our happy endings and Ian chooses to sever all ties with his clan and go with Roarke to live the long life happily bonded to a hunky dragon man in tight green leggings that leaves nothing to the imagination. Males and females both.
For A Dragon's Touch is a light, romantic read that is highly entertaining and difficult to put down once started. It has just the right imagery and angst to get the interest going and it does have the required HEA we all crave for. Those who would just like to sit and relax after a long day's work or just taking a coffee break from work, this is the right book to take the mind off the stresses of life.
Note: Now that I have read this, I am off to read the Highland Dragons Book #2: For A Dragon's Protection which continues the tale of dragons of old and Ian's best friend, Ewan.
