Happy Release Day! In Love With Lucy (NSFW #1) By CC Wood

A native Texan, C.C. grew up either reading or playing the piano. Years later, she’s still not grown up and
doing the same things. Since the voices in her head never shut up, C.C. decided to try and profit from their crazy stories and started writing books.
Now that she has a baby girl at home, C.C.’s non-writing time is usually spent cleaning up poopy diapers or feeding the poop machine. Sometimes she teaches piano, cooks, or spends time bugging her hubby and two beagles.

However, Lucy is about to discover that Chris Barden has been fighting his attraction for his gorgeous, extroverted assistant since she started working for him. Now that she intends to leave, she’s fair game. Because Chris has wanted Lucy for a long time and he always gets what he wants.

Review
My Rating: 4 of 5 Stars

If I'm to be honest, I only read In Love With Lucy because I fangirl on C.C. Wood's writing style. The blurb didn't leave much to my imagination - after all, how many tales have already been written about hot billionaire CEO's who fall in love with their sexy assistants or secretaries but try to keep it secret until it's almost too late?

With that in mind, I settled down for a great morning of quick, light reading. But wouldn't you know this woman has done it again! Taking the same vein as countless others, she still comes up with an interesting story that draws you in until the very end. With her, it's not just the storyline that is compelling, rather it's the characters that flesh it out which makes you want to be part of this world.

Lucy is a woman I could be friends with - she's willing to take risks, has a sharp wit, and makes herself heard. Since she's also down to earth and practical, she puts whatever attraction she has for her boss, Chris, on the back burner and simply chalks it up to a close proximity in the workplace to a hot guy. She never expects him to feel the same way and keeps all contact purely business.

There could be no more quintessential hot hotshot CEO than Chris, or “Christopher James Barden. The. F***ing. Third.” as Lucy, er, lovingly calls him. Focused, aggressive, anal retentive, and unnerving, those qualities are the reasons why he became a self-made billionaire at a young age. These same qualities are also what makes Lucy's life hell. But while that's his business persona, it doesn't at all apply to what her feels for her. And he only has a month to show her exactly what he feels.

Then there are her friends, all of whom speak their mind and are 100% behind Lucy and the boss who has the hots for her. They're her support system, sounding board, and the only people she calls when she needs to tuck away a stray bottle or two of tequila.

Of course it ends the way I expected, but the actions, reactions, and conversations make this a novella I can reread over and over again ... until C.C. Wood finishes the next one!

Now, the door is open. Yancy has a big story to tell (which I hope pans out well) and there's something simmering with Marcus and Grier. Chelsea is starting over with a great job and there's a call from Chris' business associate. Hmmm. Not Safe for Work? Yes, indeedy!
