eARC Review: Temper For You (For You Series, Book #3) by Genna Rulon

Genna Rulon is a contemporary romance author with a passion for blending
comedy, tragedy, suspense, and hope to create her “book babies.”

During her 15 years in the corporate world, Genna—inspired by her love of reading—fantasized about penning her own stories.  Encouraged by her favorite authors, many of whom are indie writers and self-published, she committed to pursue her aspirations of writing her own novels.
Genna was born in California and raised on Long Island in New York, where she still resides, surrounded by the most amazing family and friends.  She’s married to a wonderful man who patiently tolerates her ramblings about whichever book she is currently working on—even feigning interest relatively convincingly!  Genna is blessed with two little boys who do their best to thwart mommy's writing time with their hilarious antics and charming extrapolations.
All of Genna’s books are brought to you courtesy of coffee and Disney Junior.

Temper For You For You Series, book #3
By Genna Rulon
Amazon | Goodreads

Only for You (For You, #1)

"Life is messy. Love is messier." -Catch and Release
Meg Adeio has led a life of isolation—not by choice, by necessity—until one act of heroism forces her out of seclusion. Despite a past shrouded in mystery, Meg is “adopted” by an eclectic group of friends that become the family she never had. Life was good for the first time in…ever.
Or it was until Westly Black reappeared on her doorstep. She knew he was the last man any woman should give her time to—only good for one thing—yet a temptation no woman could deny. Wes might make her life messy, but Meg’s eyes were wide open and she had it under control.  At least she thought she did.
When past and present collide, loyalties are tested, forcing Meg to sacrifice her future to protect those she loves.
Temper For You is a gripping story of regret, deception, and redemption – filled with raw emotion, sarcastic wit, intrigue, and love’s propensity to forgive.

• Though Temper For You is a final book of the For You Series, it can be read as a stand-alone• This story is appropriate for readers 18+

Review
My Rating: 5 out of 5 Stars

Of all the possible paths I thought the For You series would take, the one course chosen in Temper for You was the farthest from what I'd imagined. Never would I expect Genna Rulon to write about this topic nor to be this graphic! It so blew my mind I had to take a day to let my thoughts settle to review.
Temper reintroduces us to the 'fifth wheel' of For You, Meg and the aptly-named black sheep, Wes. These two have had fiery encounters of several kinds in the previous book which ended in them not speaking to each other because of a misunderstanding on Meg's part. Both of them are totally miserable until the fateful day they discover they're new neighbors.
Even more sparks fly when they accidentally bump into each other. Finally, they come to a tenuous truce and decide to simply use each other - only for sex. While the attraction is evident to everybody, neither of them feel they can commit to a relationship. That very ambivalence has them doubting the feelings the other is expressing.
Meg is such a sweetheart, despite her extreme lack of self confidence. She may be the quiet one in the group but there's no one else that is such a tigress. Perhaps it's that very self-effacing attitude that Wes is attracted to the minute he sees her. However, there's that matter of the deep, dark secret she has that could potentially put everyone's life in danger.
Wes is her polar opposite, being a cocky, self-assured, ... well, you get the picture. Nothing could have prepared him for his reaction to Meg, though. He's never been willing to risk so much for someone he hardly knows, much less open up about his past and the secrets he's been forced to carry just to maintain his lifestyle. Will their needs for secrecy tear them apart?
I can't go much into the storyline of the book without giving away the best parts because they're so well embedded into the plot! But the suspense is well worth it. It's not a story you'd expect; I can't urge you too much to read this, especially if you've already finished the first two. It's not too much of a tearjerker, however, there's tons of suspense - enough to keep you riveted until the ending. If crime/suspense is a preference, then this is a winner.

Temper for You is on my shelf of new favorites, thank you very much, Genna Rulon! I wouldn't mind rereading the trilogy and am so looking forward to your next work!
