It is really difficult to be an Earl and have to deal with family issues as well estate ones when said family is set to destroy the very thing which makes all their lives possible. Earl of Crofton, Benjamin, enjoys life to the fullest. He is openly gay, he is rich, he is also attractive enough to get both male and female hearts fluttering. What he does have is also a mother who dedicates her life to making sure whatever assets the family and estate has goes to her gambling debts.
I was wondering why she even had such powers in the first place. As the earl, it should have just been Benjamin who had the final say on financial issues. That he had to share it with his mother who only married into the family was a huge mistake.
So here is Benjamin, dealing with debts he could barely see the end of, and dealing with the banks and bookies his mother duped. Now he has to open the hall to the public and though he does have the ideas, he knows not where to start. In comes Ashley Niven, Ben's younger sister's BFF who is a historian and very experienced event planner. He is the key that could make everything work.
Working together was a blast, but being together day in and day out does take toll on the two men's feelings. For Ashley, having to live with his crush of forever and work side by side is a difficult task but he does control his urges. Same with Ben, although he only develops the feelings the longer he knows Ashley.
This was a nice and fun read for I did enjoy reading Ben and Ashley's feelings develop, however, the mother issue was irritating at best and put a damper on the story. She was quite the believable character I really love to hate.
