We all know what happens, boy meets boy. Boy realises he’s not as heterosexual as he believed he’s whole life. Boy kisses boy. Boy fall in love. And walla happily ever after
The thing is ever after is actually a long time and what happens in between can make or break even the strongest of starts

I truly, absolutely hate Bronwyn Heeley right now *snifflesniffle* she made me cry.
It was a good cry, ugly tears and all, but still good. This is a lifetime of a story mashed into one short novella that is quite unforgettable.
This is Mike and Jake's story, of how they came to finally be together and how they realized they couldn't live without the other. They had their ups, they had their downs, we all go through this life, in this case, we are observers to what's going on with theirs.
Each chapter is an episode in their lives and despite the span of years between each glimpse into their life, the seamless quality of how their story reads is what makes this an incredible read. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Ms Heeley has this knack for telling short stories that pack a whole lot of wallop. Sometimes, she catches the readers unawares, like she caught this one, and there is no turning back to look for what clues she'd left behind. She's good that way, telling a story much like how life treats us. Nothing is predictable, not all are good, not all are bad.
In the end, it was glorious and yet heartbreaking. If only one could meet that person who be THAT for you, then you'll know what I mean.
