A Collars & Cuffs Story

My Rating: 4 of 5 Stars

Since the death of his submissive lover two years ago, Leo hasn’t been living—merely existing. He focuses on making Collars & Cuffs, a BDSM club in Manchester’s gay village, successful. That changes the night he and his business partner have their weekly meeting at Severinos. Leo can’t keep his eyes off the new server. The shy man seems determined to avoid Leo’s gaze, but that’s like a red rag to a bull. Leo loves a challenge.

Alex Daniels works at Severinos to scrape together the money to move out on his own. He struggles with coming out, but he’s drawn to Leo, the gorgeous guy with the icy-blue eyes who’s been eating in his area nearly every night.

Leo won’t let Alex’s hesitance get in the way. He even keeps him away from the club so as not to scare him. And as for telling Alex that Leo is a Dom? Not a good idea. One date becomes two, but date two leads to Leo’s bedroom… and Alex discovers things about himself he never realized—and never wanted anyone to see.

This has got to be one of the most romantic BDSM stories I have ever read. Not only was it romantic, it was sweet, it made me fall in love with Alex and Leo, it made me cry and and it made me laugh.

I have read some of the best and most of the worst written BDSM books from fan-fic to short stories to novel of both MF and MM genre. Of all of the books I have read, I must say that this is the sweetest of them all. This would be quite an eye-opener for those who have never crossed over to this path and, as very well written as this one is, it makes a great introductory novel for those who want to test these waters. I am also quite sure that there are some who live the lifestyle would breathe a sigh of relief for here is one novel that gives newbies a glimpse into the lifestyle that does not ridicule it nor scare off those who are naive enough to rely on novels like 50.

I like the way the points of views shift, giving readers a chance to really get deeper into the thoughts and emotions that these two men go through. This shifting makes it more romantic somehow, something that many would consider unexpected as this is a BDSM themed novel.

The minor characters are gems, too. I especially love Thomas, Leo's business partner, former Dom and now friend. I see that this is Book #1 so I expect more from this gentleman. Miles and Pietro are a cute couple too. Not only were they great friends, the romance between these two men deserve their own installment (hint hint!)

I must recommend this book to all readers, especially those who have not yet tested the waters of BDSM. This a romantic and moving story that defies the mislabelling of BDSM.

  1. Hey there! Whenever I'm bored I usually check out things and I read your reviews...Hehehe. I'm not into BDSM but the way you described the book made me want to read this. Hahaha.

Anyway, I also read your review on the latest Brac Pack book and I love it. I haven't read it yet because I just finished Christian's Coven: "Ceri". (I'm a big fan of Brac Pack too just followed them the moment I read the first book when Cecil walked into Maverick's life. Good to know I'm not alone ^_^).

I commented on the wrong page! So sorry!

  2. Glad you like the reviews. Try reading K.C. Wells' An Unlocked Heart. It's a great introduction to BDSM - it's an MM AND! it is super romantic. As for the Lynn Hagen's Brac Pack books? Who does not love them? If they don't, well, it's their loss! hehehehe :D
