[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Consensual BDSM Romance, M/M, vampires, ice play, sex toys, HEA]
Conlin McLauchlan’s need to help his brother gets him into deep trouble. When vampire Tristan Wyckoff catches Conlin breaking into his business, he doesn’t mind tying up his attractive prey, he actually prefers it.
Conlin’s desperation to help his vampire brother leads them to the Wyckoff brothers’ property. The three vampire brothers run a winery that mixes blood into each bottle. Conlin believes they’ve found a home, but his brother and their friend Ghost don’t think so.
When his small family wants to leave because they fear for Conlin’s life, he’s devastated. His feelings for Tristan were instantaneous and had only been growing over the time they’d been together.
Tristan is flying high. His mate is perfect, from Conlin’s fiery spirit to the man’s newfound love of being bound by Tristan in the bedroom. Unfortunately, there are two things trying to hinder their blooming love, Conlin’s irritating friend, Ghost, and some evil presence in the area.
Something wicked is afoot. Will Tristan be able to save Conlin from the being that wants him dead?
***Warning: Light reference to urination fetish.
I have been staring into this screen for about five minutes before I could even attempt to write a review on this one. This has got to be not only one of the biggest disappointments in my life but this turned out to be one of the five books I have not finished due to its darkness, its fetishes (even lightly referenced, turned me off to the point of disgust) and plot that could hardly be called developed as it was like reading an explanation as the writer was going around a bush while going around a second bush, all the while going around a third bush. This one crossed my eyes and made me dizzy I just had to put it down and give up on it.
That said, the story (I am at 80% and I could not go on) revolves around the mating of Conlin and his vampire Tristan. Their romance is not going so well as there seems to be no support from any of the minor characters. The presence of Ghost and Darrin irritated me no end that it was really a physical pain reading the pages they were on. Add to this complex of irritating individuals that number more than my ten fingers, there is the REAL antagonist, some alien being called Attinie who made Loki and Jack The Ripper look like peepsqueaks. Attinie is such a disgusting creature of a character, my reaction from the other events happening just doubled. Yes, this is HEA but I did not reach that point to appreciate it.
That said, for those of you readers who like dark, überunromantic and frustrating storylines with some references to BDSM fetishes, then go ahead. This is not my thing so should not hold your opinions.
Note: You may ask why, despite my ranting, I still gave it a 1 Star? It's for the effort and the ink.
