My Rating: 5 of 5 Stars
This was just a fantastic book from the first short to the last short. I usually don't give 5 Stars to anthologies on the grounds that I am reading a huge book containing short stories, but this was different.

Stranded is a theme where, for some reason or other, the men find themselves separated from the rest of the world in one way or another. It may be a time warp, it may be a disaster, or it could simply be a situation where a simple, faulty, computer glitch could set all mechanized doors inoperable. Whatever the reason may be, I was just left loving each little short story.

The best news of this collection was that each one was so well written, I had no cause for complaint. I do admit that some stories hit me harder than the others, or some hit my romantic heart the most, but I seriously cannot find any one that I favor over the most.

Take for example Alina Popescu's short on a sci-fi plot where a young man is separated from the rest of the world through some high tech bubble but somehow, he was able to get beyond the bubble and reach out to a lover in the real outside world. This is a concept that is not new, think Boy In The Plastic Bubble but it was new when his psyche found a way through the physical boundaries and he found love.

Then there was Rob Colton's sweet romance in The Buckle. Now this is a contemporary and involves a bear whose fur just kept getting softer as the story went. Talk about sweet romance!

And how about The Climb by kirifox. This is a beautiful time warp romance that sent me to tears but I felt the love here. A pretty telling story of how love can cross the barriers of time is a common enough theme but when written with a bang that leaves my heart in tatters then hope, oh my. Beautiful story there.

Sarah Hayes writes about two men on the verge of a heart breaking separation neither really wanted but logically knew had to happen. A glitch in the computer sets them stranded inside their hotel room and gives them the chance to iron out their feelings. This is a shot for a second chance that all couples should go through, even when they get locked in unwillingly.

There are so many lovely stories here, one historical is about a Viking raider falling in love and making choices. Another is a story about a deaf man who finds love in an author who reached through the soundless life, then there is the battle of wills against nature when sexuality was a nonentity and a final choice has to be made.

All these stories are wonderful, I cannot pick one over the rest or three or four. I pick them all and I say: read this anthology! It's a worthy read for each and every one of us who seek different plots to gain a little bit of love and goofy smiles.
