Nicola Cameron is a married woman of a certain age who really likes writing about sex. When not writing about sex, she likes to knit. And she may be rather fond of absinthe. Well, it’s true!
Okay, the full version: Nicola Cameron has had a healthy interest in sex since puberty, but it wasn’t until 2012 that she decided to write about it. Turns out that the skills picked up during her SF writing career transfer rather nicely to erotic romance and erotica — who knew? She's currently working on Book Three in her Olympic Cove series and hopes to turn it in by mid-January. When not writing, she’s usually making Stuff™, kissing her husband, or entertaining her cats.

This is the story of Nick Gardiner, a submissive by nature but a fantastic ER doctor. His lover had not only hurt him but as they practiced BDSM, it was a total surprise, a painful one, to find out that his supposed lover and master not only broke their boundaries, but was out to get him. Turning to the friend he knew best to be supportive and non-judgemental, he reaches out to Ian West and stumbles into a world so different and confusing from that which he knew was normal. To top it off, a talking snake speaks with the voice of Judi Dench. Oi!
Aidan is a merman or mer and was out searching for his and mate, Liam's, fated third. He woke up to pain and the caring touch of a doctor who he discovers is his other mate. Of course, fate is kind of a tease as Nick refuses to get into bed with him because he is a patient. Another thing, Aidan knows Nick knows nothing about Liam. What to do?
Liam was searching for his mate, Aidan, when he stumbles into a cabin and finds him in flagrante delicto with a human. In anger, Liam strikes out but is subdued by the presence of twin sea gods, Bythos and Aphros, mates to Ian, who just happened to be a storm god now. His anger causes problems as Nick is wary of his presence but could not deny their pull toward each other. Nick's behavior is only understandable once Liam finds out the reason why. Now all he has to do is convince his fated mate that he is not a master to break the rules.
There is also the question of Nick's ex-master...
Although this is categorized as BDSM, it is too light to be really considered as one, but that is not an issue at all. The plot moves fast, the character developments were really done well and the overall impact was: surprising.
Surprising because this is a shape shifter/paranormal M/M story so there is a stigma of "another one" attached to it. Also, this is Greek mythology based so I am quite skeptical for I have read many that attempted and failed dismally. Happily, not only does this story work, it takes a great twist of mythology and made it paranormal and that is new for me.
Overall, I am happy and I am very satisfied. I will be happier once I read the first installment. So a hunting I will go and I think you should as well.
